YOUNG EXPLORERS
Kids love coming to the Museum's Young Explorers! At these weekly classes, young children use their senses to discover the natural world while making new friends and having fun. The Young Explorers series includes two programs: Tiny Trekkers(ages 2-3) and Natural Wonders (ages 4-5). We also offer Silly Science Saturdays throughout the year for kids ages 4 through 10.

Tiny Trekkers Tiny Trekkers is a five-week program focusing on broad scientific themes for 2- and 3-year-olds and their parents/caregivers. In each class children enjoy circle time, hands-on centers, music and movement, and story time based on nature themes. The five themes for the fall session are: Apples, Apples, Apples; Fall Leaves; Pumpkin Time; Creatures of the Night; Our Five Senses, Part 1; and Our Five Senses, Part 2.
Families may choose hour-long classes on Mondays or Wednesdays at either 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.
Monday classes: October 4 – November 8, 2010 Wednesday classes: October 6 – November 10, 2010
Natural Wonders Natural Wonders introduces 4- and 5-year-olds to science through hands-on learning. Children conduct experiments, explore the galleries, and hike outside while learning about basic science concepts. Each hour-long class includes a craft to help reinforce the lesson.
Topics for the fall session are: Animal House Hunters; Fall Trees; Cunning Camouflage; Sensing Nature; Rockin’ with Rocks; and Dynamite Dinosaurs (Be the Dinosaur exhibit).
This five-week program is a great way to add science to your kindergartener’s schedule. Families may choose classes on Tuesdays or Thursdays at either 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.
Tuesday classes: October 5 – November 9, 2010 Thursday classes: October 7 – November 11, 2010
Parents/caregivers are asked to stay with their children. Siblings are welcome to stay with the parent/caregiver.
YOUNG EXPLORERS: Fees and Registration Cost: $60 for members, $90 for non-members.
Early member registration: Sustaining members may register starting September 1. Household members may register starting September 3.

Silly Science Saturdays Special workshops for children ages 4 through 10 are held throughout the year on a variety of fun and wacky science topics.
The Beauty of Birds Do birds of a feather really flock together? Come and learn about feathers, wings, bills, feet, and more in our one-hour program about bird adaptations. Make a bird feeder to attract beautiful birds to your own yard for a closer look.
