DEVELOPMENT

Annual Fund 2010

With their eyes wide open and fingers pointing upward, 20 preschoolers hop off a bus and enter the Delaware Museum of Natural History for the first time. “Look!” cries one of the students. “It’s a giant sea monster!” Our docent smiles and explains that it’s actually a giant squid, which the kids don’t have to worry about meeting in the ocean because it lives so far out. Reassured, the class giggles and asks question after question. The docent patiently answers every one. After all, that’s what we do.

Educational scenes such as these happen thousands of times at the Museum each year thanks to generous donations from supporters like you. Your tax-deductible contribution to our Annual Fund will allow us to continue our programs, special events, and engaging exhibits without cutbacks as we improve our facility.

Studies show that our nation’s students must catch up to the rest of the world in the crucial areas of science and math. The Delaware Museum of Natural History is uniquely positioned to have a positive impact by introducing the wonders and science of nature to children between the ages of 2 and 12.

This is an especially important year because we are preparing for a very exciting change: The Discovery Room is undergoing a major renovation! Scheduled to open this fall, the re-imagined room will be filled with many different creatures in their habitats and plenty of interactive natural science activities. To give you a sneak peek at the new themes, CLICK HERE to download a fun and easy Creature Features game to share with family and friends.

Now more than ever, our goal is to encourage this and future generations to become scientists, naturalists, and informed citizens who are good stewards of our planet. We’ll need contributions from friends, members, and donors like you to accomplish it.

Please CONTRIBUTE TODAY and help the Museum thrive!
